I got up early for a long train ride to 石神井城跡 Shakujiijō ato. I wanted to investigate the ruins of Shakujii castle. This also gave me some time for reflection on my training here in Japan and to add more detail to my training notes.

Sunday 10/28/12 Warmed up with the 基本八法型 Kihon Happō Gata flow drill. We then added ukemi to each portion of the kihon. This is VERY difficult. Not just because it is physically demanding, but to maintain kamae, do proper kihon, and correct ukemi all at once is a challenge for even the most expert budoka....

Hatsumi Sensei recently shared with us a little book or scroll that describes using Metsubushi to conceal yourself or disappear in the mist (目潰霧隠れの豆本 metsubushi kirigakure no mamehon).
