Bujinkan Training Videos

Part Two of my Québec Bujinkan Seminar. In this video I demonstrate how to shape the kukan. Then in this space we create tension that allows us to throw our opponent without strength. I also share some of the training I did with Hatsumi Sensei in Japan last month.

I visited Québec for a Bujinkan Seminar. In this first video I cover some basics of kamae and kyojitsu.

my Bujinkan video where I visit the Ruins of 高輪大木戸跡 Takanawa Ōkido Gate in Tokyo. I make a connection with the ninja use of 変装術 Hensojutsu. Then I break for lunch at an award winning Ramen shop, なんつッ亭 Nansuttei.

I used that style cover to initiate the 竹折り take ori lock that starts the throw. I learned a specific point of leverage for this from Hatsumi Sensei, so I showed that.

my Bujinkan video sharing details from my recent Japan training at the Bujinkan Honbu Dojo and with Hatsumi Sensei. Soke made three announcements: One of a personal nature, another for the Daishihan, and the third for the future of the Bujinkan.

We began class with 伏虎（一）Hu ko (ichi). The name of this kata can be traced back to Chinese martial arts and suggests the crouching tiger form. When you compare kamae, you will definitely see this.

my Bujinkan video exploring the Bujinkan kata 跳火 Hanebi. I began class by describing a day when Hatsumi Sensei asked me to teach at the Bujinkan Honbu Dojo. He did this right after he painted isshin denshin on a scroll for me. But the kanji he used was a form of 会 to read 会心伝神 (knowing the teachings of kami). I decided to demo Hanebi, so I got to learn about this straight from Soke.

my Bujinkan video exploring Bujinkan 杖術 jōjutsu and 貫く tsurunuku. We warmed up with 杖術 jojutsu kote uchi. Start from 講変の構 ihen no kamae, then as the opponent cuts we evade behind our jo. After the kote uchi, we use a 撚り型 yorigata to strike 横面 yokomen. We finished the warmup by using the jo (more...)
